Early Morning Preparation
My day as an HVAC technician at Joplin’s Air Conditioning & Heating starts before sunrise. By 6:30 AM, I’m already reviewing the day’s service calls while enjoying my morning coffee. The weather forecast shows another scorching Texas day ahead, which typically means a busy schedule of emergency AC calls mixed with scheduled maintenance.
First Calls of the Day
7:00 AM – I’m checking my service van’s inventory, ensuring I have all the essential parts and tools needed for the day. Working across McKinney, Plano, and Allen means I need to be prepared for anything from simple maintenance to complex repairs.
Morning Maintenance
My first stop is a scheduled maintenance in Prosper:
• Checking refrigerant levels
• Cleaning condenser coils
• Inspecting electrical connections
• Testing thermostat functionality
Midday Emergency Calls
By noon, the dispatch radio comes alive with emergency calls from Fairview and Melissa. When temperatures soar, AC failures become more than just an inconvenience – they’re a genuine concern for our community’s safety and comfort.
Afternoon Technical Work
The afternoon typically involves more complex tasks:
• Installing new HVAC systems
• Diagnosing mysterious cooling issues
• Performing furnace inspections for winter preparation
• Educating homeowners about system maintenance
End of Day
As the sun sets, I’m completing paperwork and preparing for tomorrow. Every day brings new challenges and opportunities to help our neighbors stay comfortable in the extreme Texas weather.
Remember, regular maintenance is key to preventing those uncomfortable emergency situations. It’s not just about fixing problems – it’s about preventing them before they start.
